Advisory 13: PLDT, Smart, PSF relief reach Polillo Islands, Quezon, Nueva Ecija, and Bataan

PLDT, Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) ramp up distribution of relief, reaching communities in the islands of Polillo, Quezon, Nueva Ecija, and Bataan following the onslaught of super typhoon #KardingPH. 

With the help of government partners onsite and the PLDT and Smart sales teams, the Group were able to reach more areas in Polillo Islands and provide relief assistance in the form of food packs and hygiene kits that benefitted 1,000 families who were impacted by #KardingPH.  

Communities in Nueva Ecija also received aid today, serving 2,000 affected families. Distribution of aid in Bataan will begin tomorrow to reach more areas devastated by the super typhoon. 

PLDT and Smart continue to promote preparedness and immediate response through distribution of relief aid, continuous availability of communication services, and mobile solutions to help communities mitigate disaster risks. The Group remains fully committed to helping people in need. 

 


 

Advisory 12: PLDT, Smart further widen relief distribution for #KardingPH hard-hit communities

[07 October 2022] As of 5pm Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) remain at the forefront of extending aid in the form of food packs and communications to help communities who were impacted by super typhoon #KardingPH.  

The Group, together with PLDT and Smart Foundation (PSF) reached out to more communities and began distributing relief assistance earlier this week. PLDT, Smart, and PSF have already delivered around 1,100 food packs to areas in Aurora, Nueva Ecija, and Tarlac. Approximately 4,000 relief packs are on their way to severely affected communities in the provinces of Bataan, Bulacan, Pampanga, and some areas in Nueva Ecija and Tarlac. Aid has also been given to General Nakar, Quezon and more help are on their way to Polillo Islands, Infanta, and Real, Quezon.

PLDT and Smart’s Libreng Tawag (free calls) and Libreng Charging (free charging) stations in some parts of Nueva Ecija continued to operate until today which served the communication needs of residents and help them connect with their families and loved ones. 

Network services in the provinces along super typhoon #KardingPH’s routes have already been fully restored a few days after experiencing minimal disruption due to commercial power failure following the onslaught of #KardingPH. 

PLDT and Smart will continue to take the lead in helping fellow Filipinos in need especially during a disaster through its #SafeandSmart advocacy, by promoting preparedness and immediate response through continuous availability of communication services, relief assistance, and mobile solutions to help communities mitigate disaster risks. 

This also underscores the commitment of PLDT and Smart to attaining the UNSDGs, particularly SDG #11: Sustainable Cities and Communities. 

 


 

Advisory 11: Tarlac network fully restored post #KardingPH, relief reaches more areas: PLDT, Smart

[04 October 2022] As of 3pm Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) fully restore network services in Tarlac following the onslaught of super typhoon #KardingPH.  

Part of PLDT and Smart’s disaster recovery plan, their Libreng Tawag (free calls), Libreng Charging (free charging), and Libreng WiFi (free WiFi) stations remain operational in Nueva Ecija a week after #KardingPH to continue to accommodate the communication needs of affected residents.   

Communities who were impacted by the super typhoon in Tarlac City and Moncada, Tarlac also received relief assistance in the form of food packs, drinking water and other essentials from PLDT and Smart. The Group is currently packing more aid to be distributed in the coming days.

 

 


 

Advisory 10: PLDT, Smart fully restore Pampanga, begin relief distribution for #KardingPH areas

[30 September 2022] As of 6am Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) fully restore network services in Pampanga, one of the provinces along super typhoon #KardingPH’s routes. The Group’s fixed and wireless network in the provinces of Aurora and Bulacan were fully restored last Wednesday, following Pangasinan, where PLDT and Smart were first to repair damaged network sites. 

PLDT and Smart also continued to operate their Libreng Tawag (free calls), Libreng Charging (free charging), and Libreng WiFi (free WiFi) stations in Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Quezon, and Tarlac yesterday to accommodate the communication needs of affected residents. 

PLDT and Smart Foundation, through Alagang Kapatid Foundation Inc., distributed relief packs to coastal communities in Polillo Island, Quezon. One Meralco Foundation, Maynilad, and Metro Pacific Tollways also distributed aid in the form of food packs, drinking water, and other necessities to Bulacan, Cavite, and Rizal.

More help will be delivered in the coming days. 

 


 

Advisory 9: PLDT, Smart restore network to more areas, including Bulacan, Aurora post #KardingPH  


[29 September 2022] As of 5am, Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) bring back 100% of their fixed and wireless network up in sites in the provinces of Aurora and Bulacan, which were severely affected by super typhoon #KardingPH. The Group was first to fully restore network services in Pangasinan yesterday.   


PLDT and Smart’s Libreng Tawag (free calls), Libreng Charging (free charging), and Libreng WiFi (free WiFi) stations continue to operate and provide communication services to affected communities. More sites were opened in different municipalities to help residents connect with their families and loved ones.

Advisory 8: PLDT, Smart first to fully restore network services in Pangasinan post #KardingPH  

[27 September 2022] As of 6pm, Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) were first to fully restore network services in Pangasinan following the onslaught of super typhoon #KardingPH.  

PLDT and Smart are continuously working on full restoration of their fixed and wireless network in Aurora and Bulacan after #KardingPH made its landfall last Sunday. 

As of 7am yesterday, PLDT and Smart's network teams began repairing disrupted network nodes to provide affected communities with stable and reliable connectivity. Network services in the National Capital Region were fully restored yesterday morning.  

With the newly operational Integrated Operations Center (IOC), PLDT and Smart immediately detected network disruptions in areas along the routes of super typhoon #KardingPH. This also allowed quicker coordination and faster response.  

PLDT and Smart remain at the forefront of providing quick, emergency communications support to people and communities in times of disaster.  

 


 

Advisory 7: PLDT, Smart offer more areas with free calls, Wi-Fi, charging post #KardingPH

[27 September 2022] PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), have assured affected customers of continued service, with the deferment of disconnection for non-payment of PLDT Home to help #KardingPH hit customers get back on their feet.

Smart has also provided emergency load assistance to customers in the impacted areas that enabled them to stay connected.

Advisory 6: PLDT and Smart provide bill reprieve to Karding-hit areas in Luzon

[27 September 2022] PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) extend more communication aid to communities heavily impacted by super typhoon #KardingPH.

The group has stopped disconnection of accounts in hardest hit areas. PLDT plans to suppress bill for areas with severe typhoon impacts while services are undergoing restoration.

Smart has also provided emergency load assistance to customers in badly hit communities, allowing them to connect with their families and loved ones.

Libreng Tawag (free calls), Libreng Charging (free charging), and Libreng WiFi (free WiFi) stations of PLDT and Smart will continue to operate in areas hit by #KardingPH to serve the communication needs of affected residents.

Relief assistance from PLDT and Smart Foundation is on their way and will be delivered to communities beginning today.

Advisory 4: PLDT, Smart report minimal network disruption, restoration underway post #KardingPH 

[26 September 2022] As of 8am, Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have deployed their North Luzon network team to conduct risk assessment in areas heavily impacted by super typhoon #KardingPH.  

“Based on the initial assessment of our team, impact of #KardingPH on PLDT and Smart’s network is not as heavy and disruptions reported can be considered minimal. Our command center will continue to monitor the situation,” said Cathy Yang, FVP and Group Head for Corporate Communications at PLDT & Smart. 

PLDT and Smart's network have withstood the onslaught of super typhoon Karding. However, customers in some areas may experience service quality issues after some sites were impacted by #KardingPH.  

PLDT and Smart also set up Libreng Tawag (free calls) and Libreng Charging (free charging stations) in the following sites to serve the communication needs of affected residents.

[25 September 2022] As of 7pm, Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) began lowering antennas and microwave dishes for public safety as super typhoon #KardingPH traverses over Central Luzon. 

"PLDT and Smart have also prepositioned generator sets, fuels in drums and lorries in heavily impacted areas, in addition to the command center that was established this afternoon," said Cathy Yang, FVP and Group Head for Corporate Communications at PLDT & Smart. 

"Network field service response teams are on high alert and satellite phones have already been deployed and tested." 

PLDT-Smart Foundation and MVP Group’s Tulong Kapatid have already started preparing relief assistance to areas that will be heavily affected. 

However, for the safety of our personnel, operations will only commence once #KardingPH has passed.

Advisory 2: Mission critical assets ready as Karding makes landfall: PLDT, Smart

[25 September 2022] As of 11am, Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have pre-positioned mission-critical manpower and equipment as #KardingPH intensifies into a super typhoon.

PLDT and Smart have likewise activated quick response teams and deployed generator sets in Tuguegarao and Gattaran, Cagayan. Currently, there are no reported signal disruptions and power interruptions in these areas.

PLDT and Smart’s Libreng Tawag (free calls) and Libreng Charging (free charging) stations are also ready for deployment and operations in areas that will be heavily impacted by the super typhoon to serve the communication needs of affected residents.

For the safety of our personnel, operations will only commence once #KardingPH has passed.

[24 September 2022] As of 5pm, Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have activated quick response teams as Severe Tropical Storm ‘Karding’ is expected to intensify further into a typhoon in the next 12 hours.

PLDT and Smart have, likewise, prepositioned mission-critical equipment and additional personnel  as #KardingPH barrels towards Casiguran, Aurora. The storm is likely to make landfall in Aurora or the northern portion of Quezon on Sunday afternoon.

PLDT and Smart’s Libreng Tawag (free calls) and Libreng Charging (free charging) stations are on standby ready to be deployed in areas that will be heavily impacted by the tropical cyclone. However, for the safety of our personnel, operations will only commence once #KardingPH has passed.

We urge everyone to take necessary precautions and heed the alerts and warnings of local governments and disaster response authorities.
