More and more customers are switching over to Smart, the country’s fastest and most reliable network, while keeping their old numbers.

PLDT and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have teamed up with the City Government of Cabanatuan in Nueva Ecija to roll out free Wi-Fi in the city’s key areas, providing connectivity solutions amid communication difficulties in this pandemic.

Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has asked Globe Telecom, Inc. (Globe) to remedy and resolve the serious and persistent concerns affecting Globe customers wanting to port in or transfer to Smart but have been unable to do so seamlessly and without fault or difficulty, due to Globe’s system-readiness issues and general unpreparedness to implement the Mobile Number Portability Act (Republic Act No. 11202) or the MNP Law.

Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has urged the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to look into why Globe’s GOMO had failed to take part in the Mobile Number Portability (MNP) launch on September 30th.

Senior citizen and Mandaluyong resident Maria Lina Porciuncula Grecia had observed how her husband, a loyal Smart customer since 2003, has never had any signal issue with his mobile service. This is the complete opposite of her own mobile service, which, according to Mrs. Grecia, has always been problematic. “We’ve always had difficulty obtaining a decent network connection at home. Despite all efforts and complaints escalated to Globe, the problem has always persisted, and the signal even worsened to the point of needing a signal booster,” according to Mrs. Grecia.

PLDT’s wireless unit Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) joins the nation in urging Filipinos, especially the youth, to register and vote in the May 22 elections next year.

To cap the Cybersecurity Awareness Month, PLDT and Smart held back-to-back bootcamps of the CyberSmart online caravan for local government units, Department of Education (DepEd) personnel and the public, to equip them with knowledge and skills on data protection.
