PLDT and Smart recently launched the call for startups to participate in the search for the next ‘big’ idea for the PLDT & Smart Startup Innovation Challenge.
In the aim of giving the most deserving startup that lucky break, the nationwide search could open opportunities for those innovators with gamechanging ideas to get their solutions supported, funded, and even marketed.
“It is widely accepted that profit and scalability are a must for survivability --- but in the long run, your product must solve a deep pain or challenge – but would also like to say that you are not alone: PLDT and Smart are one with the local startup community in the quest to solve the challenges that both consumers and businesses face today,” shared PLDT FVP and Head of PLDT Enterprise Core Business Solutions Joseph Ian Gendrano.
He also highlighted how such circumstances today present opportunities for those ideas given the right perspective. “If there’s one good thing that came out from this pandemic -- companies were forced to innovate, that a digital transformation was not anymore a choice but a necessity and driving innovation is the lifeblood of any business,” he added.
Interested participants are given key focus areas where their solution or project can best address issues on whether be it in Smart City, Workplace of the Future, Healthcare, Smart Home, Education, and Sustainability.
They can submit their complete entries through https://bit.ly/startupinnovchallenge until October 8.
“Through Innolab, we can start building a strong connection and collaboration with promising startups. We can leverage the resources of the entire PLDT group to help guide, lift, and promote the startup community – as we wholeheartedly believe that you are an important piece of our country’s technological journey and nation building,” said Gendrano.
The Startup Challenge is organized by PLDT Innolab in partnership with IdeaSpace and QBO. It targets to award the winner of the challenge by November during the Philippine Startup Week.
