As a follow-through to the signing of the Joint Declaration (JD) with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) for the global Digital Transformation Centres (DTC) Initiative in the Philippines, PLDT and Smart Chairman, President and CEO Manuel V Pangilinan today turned over the “DTC On-the-Go” package to the Department of Information and Communication Technology (DICT), led by Secretary Ivan John Enrile Uy.

The DTC Initiative, launched in September 2019 by ITU in partnership with leading global technology company Cisco, is implemented by the DICT in the Philippines, supported by the PLDT Group as the DCT Initiative’s sole telco partner. Through their collaboration with the ITU and the DICT on the Digital Transformation Centres Initiative, the PLDT Group renews its commitment to driving digital innovation to unlock sustainable progress for all Filipinos

"This is PLDT's core mission—an inclusive, digital Philippines. Our strengths as a company can serve the biggest, most pressing needs of our country, and we will make certain that our efforts will be felt by our countrymen. Together with Government—which has laid out a visionary plan for digitalization—we are eager to help build a Philippines where no one is left behind," according to Pangilinan.

PLDT and Smart’s collaboration with the ITU and the DICT are aligned with the national government’s key digitalization efforts. They also underscore the PLDT group’s broad program to help the country achieve UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 1: No Poverty; 8: Decent Work and Economic Growth; and 9: Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure.
