PLDT and Smart engineers are in Surigao ready to be deployed to Siargao to help repair damaged network sites in the popular tourist destination. Additional personnel are flying in from Manila today bringing with them mission-critical equipment that will aid in the quick restoration of communication services in the area.
Smart had also sent additional satellite phones to personnel in typhoon-hit areas to help relay information and aid in the deployment of additional teams and equipment. Smart had earlier sent two satellite phones each to the provincial governments of Cebu which lent one unit to the provincial police, and Surigao del Norte which it used in its own Tawag Centers in Surigao City and Siargao. Smart will also lend another unit to the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF) which it will use for rapid assessment in Maasin, Leyte.
We assure our customers that we are working round the clock to address service issues and reconnect more areas that have been severely impacted by #OdettePH.
We are also preparing relief packs to be distributed in communities that are feeling the brunt of the super typhoon.
