PLDT and Smart cultivate culture of preparedness across their organization with the Resilience Summit
PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) held their annual Resilience Summit to strengthen the Group’s organizational resilience and cultivate a culture of preparedness among their employees nationwide.
The Group recognizes the geographical situation of the Philippines as it remains to be susceptible to natural calamities such as typhoons, earthquakes, and volcanic eruptions, which historically occur during the last quarter of the year. PLDT and Smart also prioritize public health concerns and other man-made crises that may disrupt the business and their employees in their resilience plans.

The integrated telco’s leadership direction is to ensure that resiliency and business continuity are embedded in day-to-day operations, for the Group to serve its customers better even amidst disruptions.
Led by the Business Continuity and Resilience Office (BCRO), the Resilience Summit brought together Regional Disaster Management Teams (RDMT) from offices across all regions of the Philippines.
PLDT and Smart employees nationwide advocate towards organizational resilience
"Our RDMTs are the company’s frontliners who respond immediately to any disaster incident. In BCRO, it’s critical for us that the recognition of the work that they do is made. We aim to properly assist and support our RDMTs in the performance of their functions and make sure that they are properly equipped with knowledge that is relevant, consistent, accurate and timely in responding to these disasters,” said Atty. Oliver Odulio, Vice President and Head of BCRO and Asset Protection and Security Risk Governance at PLDT and Smart.
Highlighted in the summit was the critical role of each team member and the value of hyper collaboration among key departments and business units, including external stakeholders, in ensuring the continuity of customer-centric business operations that are anchored on the Group’s core value of malasakit.
