In celebration of the recent World Engineering Day 2024, PLDT Inc. and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) supported the Philippine Technological Council – Young Engineers Section (PTC-YES) in its hosting of its first ever esports tournament championship held at the Smart Tower Technolab, at the Smart headquarters in Makati City. It also served as an opportunity for the telcos to showcase their unparalleled connectivity for the mobile gaming industry in the Philippines, including the real-time streaming of the game, as one team was remote, while the other was on-site.
The Super Team, which comprised of engineering students from the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) in Ilocos Norte, emerged as the champions of this competition, when they faced off against the Philippine Society of Mechanical Engineers’ IYT from the professional division in a best-of-five series. MMSU is also a partner of Smart, under the Smart Wireless Engineering Education Program (SWEEP).
PTC is an umbrella organization of thirteen professional engineering organizations in the Philippines, each representing a specific engineering field of practice. This esports tournament is aligned with PLDT and Smart’s commitment to supporting the development and promotion of esports and esports athletes in the country. [END]
