More than 100 barangays were inundated in the province following the onslaught of #AgatonPH that dumped torrential rains in the Visayas and parts of Mindanao last week.
ADVISORY 6: [15 April 2022] As of 8 a.m. Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and Smart, together with the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) have distributed around 500 relief packs to victims of Tropical Depression Agaton in Barangay Bunga, Abuyog, Leyte.
Around 4,000 families are staying in evacuation centers across the province of Leyte after #AgatonPH caused widespread flooding and landslides in Eastern Visayas.
Brgy. Captain Romeo Tumandao helped distribute the food packs. He was assisted by ADM Roy Nebrija, TMM Smithy Tilao, SMMTS Jerma Pascual, PLDT Ent. RM April Cordero, RD MTS Jimmy Anoba, TGSMI OM Harvey Grandeza, and TGSMI DSS Floro Agota.
ADVISORY 5: [14 April 2022] As of 8 a.m. Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and Smart, together with the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) have distributed around 500 relief packs including vitamins to around 200 families in Baybay, Leyte. Many of the evacuees have survived landslides brought about by #AgatonPH.
Around 4,000 families have sought shelter in evacuation centers across the province of Leyte after the tropical cyclone inundated Eastern Visayas with torrential rains that caused widespread flooding.
Provincial distributor V.E. Yap also supported the relief distribution. Leading this effort was CDM Joseph Janus Asis. He was assisted by PD OM Devons Pol, PD DAC Romel Manto and RD AO Glenda Parrilla.

ADVISORY 4: [13 April 2022] As of 8 a.m. Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and Smart have activated their Libreng Tawag (free calls) at Libreng Charging (free charging) stations in the following sites:
LEYTE
- Abuyog Community College, Abuyog (in partnership with PD TGSMI)
- Baybay City Evacuation Center, Baybay City (in partnership with PD V.E. Yap)
CAPIZ
- Dumarao Public Market, Dumarao (Generator sets provided by RD One World)
Smart also extended communication support to Baybay City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office to power its hotline as rescue operations continue. The city has declared a state of calamity following the damage left by #AgatonPH. More than 4,000 families in Leyte have been evacuated because of #AgatonPH.
ADVISORY 3: [12 April 2022] As of 6 a.m. Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and Smart services have weathered the onslaught of Tropical Depression Agaton in parts of the Visayas and Mindanao.
Smart has also restored services that have been previously affected in Southern Leyte and the northern part of Cebu. However, some customers in Leyte and Bohol may experience service degradations due to commercial power outage.
PLDT and Smart personnel have already started repairs in areas deemed safe for these activities. Rest assured that our on-ground teams are ready to be deployed in other affected sites once #AgatonPH has passed.
We are also coordinating with local government units in preparing relief assistance that will be sent out to heavily impacted communities once it’s safe to do so. The PLDT group will also assist local authorities in their response to the tropical cyclone.
ADVISORY 2: [11 April 2022] As of 4 p.m. Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and Smart services have remained resilient in majority of areas that are being pummeled by Tropical Depression Agaton. However, some customers in Leyte may experience service disruptions due to multiple fiber cuts and commercial power failure. Some areas in Southern Leyte, Bohol and northern Cebu may experience the same due to unavailability of commercial power.
Our quick response teams are on standby ready to restore affected services once #AgatonPH has passed. PLDT and Smart will also assist local authorities in their response to the tropical cyclone.

ADVISORY 1: [10 April 2022] As of 8 a.m. Philippine Standard Time, PLDT and Smart have prepositioned personnel and mission-critical equipment including emergency generators in the Visayas and Mindanao as the country braces for i Tropical Storm Agaton, its first tropical cyclone of the year.
PLDT group’s Libreng Tawag (free calls), Libreng Charging (free charging) stations are also on standby, ready to be deployed in areas that will be heavily impacted by the tropical cyclone. However, for the safety of our personnel, operations will only commence once #AgatonPH has passed.
PAGASA has hoisted Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 2 over the southern portion of Eastern Samar, the southern portion of Samar, and the northeastern portion of Leyte, as well as over the northern part of Dinagat Islands. Signal No. 1 has been raised over the rest of Eastern Samar, the rest of Samar, Northern Samar, Biliran, the rest of Leyte, Southern Leyte, and the northeastern portion of Cebu including Camotes Islands in the Visayas, and over Surigao del Norte and the rest of the Dinagat Islands.
We urge everyone to take necessary precautions and heed the alerts and warnings of local governments and disaster response authorities.
