Ruel Brual, PLDT Zone Head of Tarlac-Nueva Ecija-Aurora Division (5th from left) formally turns over 10 desktop computers uploaded with CVIF DLP Learning Activity to DepEd Cabanatuan City
PLDT and its wireless unit, Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) recently turned over ten desktop computers to the Department of Education (DepEd) Division of Cabanatuan City in the province of Nueva Ecija, to help expand the learning delivery platforms of schools in the area.
“PLDT and Smart are committed to help the Department of Education bring inclusive quality education to all Filipino learners so they can help build a MATATAG na bayan in the future. Our support to DepEd Cabanatuan City underscores our longstanding use of technology for good – as the devices and educational materials ensure that no learners are left behind,” said Stephanie Orlino, AVP and Head of Stakeholder Management at PLDT and Smart.
PLDT and Smart also installed learning tools in the computers to help the division implement module-based instruction. The Central Visayan Institute Foundation Dynamic Learning Program (CVIF DLP) Learning Activity Sheets (LAS) that were uploaded in the units will aid teachers in simplifying complex lessons and teach students to study on their own.

The donation complements PLDT and Smart’s earlier efforts in helping the division improve learning outcomes among Cabanatuan City students. In June, PLDT and Smart onboarded more than 100 teachers and supervisors from the division to the pandemic tested CVIF DLP.
The crisis-resilient teaching pedagogy encourages independent learning among students. This is made possible by the CVIF DLP Learning Activity Sheets (CVIF DLP LAS) that help improve the academic performance of students even with little to no teacher or parent intervention.
“The computer devices and, more importantly, the CVIF DLP training will benefit our mentors. Rest assured that we will make full use of these equipment and pedagogy to deliver quality education to all our students,” said Dr. Catalina Paez, PhD., CESO V – Schools Division Superintendent, DepEd Cabanatuan City.
Smart and PLDT-Smart Foundation have been supporting the CVIF-DLP for over a decade. PLDT and Smart develop and promote various educational initiatives in line with their commitment to help the nation achieve the United Nation’s Sustainable Development Goal No. 4 on Quality Education.
