PLDT Home is taking decisive action to address frequent service interruptions caused by theft and vandalism.
Over the past six weeks, PLDT has intensified its partnership with barangay officials in Taguig and the community of Acacia Estates to heighten security monitoring in the area, with all previous incidents documented and reported to the local barangay, in order to resolve the situation and prevent repeat issues. The company has likewise installed an adequate backup system in the area to ensure continuous PLDT connectivity and services.
PLDT has appealed to its customers to join them in this campaign. Theft and vandalism do not just cause significant disruptions, they also threaten the safety and comfort of the surrounding community. “Residents are urged to report any suspicious activity immediately. Customers may contact the PLDT hotline at 164 to report suspicious service-related activity and help keep their community connected and safe,” said Cathy Yang, First Vice President and Head of Group Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.
These initiatives are part of PLDT's group-wide effort to help protect telco infrastructure nationwide. Recently, PLDT, its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and the Cybercrime Investigation and Coordinating Center (CICC) joined forces to spearhead the formation of PROTECTA Pilipinas, the broadest ever public-private collaboration which aims to safeguard technology and telecommunications infrastructure across the country, helping ensure that Filipinos have unhampered access to connectivity. Among the organization's objectives is to advocate for legal frameworks that explicitly protect telecom infrastructure from vandalism, theft, and sabotage, including penalties for offenders.
