Fifty-two-year-old Ann Maandig has worked in PLDT since 1992. As a daughter of former PLDT employees, the company has played a big part in shaping her values.  Starting out as a telephone operator taking long-distance calls, the great rapport she’s built with coworkers equipped her with valuable technical skills through the years.    It had also prepared her Super Typhoon Odette.

The PLDT Group is partnering with award-winning engineering firm RED Engineering for the build of its newest VITRO Data Center in Sta. Rosa, Laguna, anchored on the best sustainable practices and energy efficiency for the design of the first-of-its-kind data center in the Philippines.

They’re no stranger to calamities, and helping people has always been part of their job. But the PLDT Asset Protection and Security Risk Governance (APSRG) Visayas and Mindanao teams encountered a much tougher situation when they faced Odette, the strongest typhoon to hit the country in 2021.

Leading integrated telco PLDT and global satellite operator Telesat of Canada have successfully conducted the Philippines’ first on-orbit testing of high-speed broadband connectivity with Telesat’s Phase 1 Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite, marking yet another milestone for PLDT as the country’s leading provider of communication services over satellite technology.

PLDT, through its industry-leading ICT arm ePLDT, is set to build additional 100MW of data center (DC) capacity beginning with a new hyperscale, telco-neutral, and purpose-built facility in Sta. Going the extra mile for customers has been 50-year old Jonathan Dosdos’ long-time mantra ever since he started working in PLDT in 1995. He began as a cable splicer, which equipped him with profound knowledge of PLDT’s technology and equipment.

They toiled long hours, climbing poles, splicing the tiny, hair-thin cables, inching their way under a bridge to repair the destruction brought on by Super Typhoon Odette.  For 27-year-old PLDT engineer Brian Reodique, who came face to face with the realities in Palawan, it was an experience one can only learn from the school of life.
