The number of domains used by digital scammers have been decreasing for the past three days, as PLDT Inc. and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have ramped up their awareness efforts and progressively blocked websites that lead people to fraudulent ‘job hiring’ schemes.

The Philippines’ largest fully integrated telecommunications company PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and its wireless arm Smart Communications Inc. (Smart) widen their scope in fostering a safer digital environment for children with their newly formed alliance with the Canadian Centre for Child Protection (C3P). 

PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have reported a decrease in the number of clicks by subscribers on unsolicited SMS that lead to fraud, following the Group’s massive awareness campaign against the scheme of dubious job offers.

PLDT, Smart ramp up efforts to prevent customers from falling prey to the infamous SMS scam or smishing.

PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have increased their fraud protection mechanisms fourfold, outpacing perpetrators by aggressively blocking malicious domains and activating filtering systems that weed out spam messages.

In light of the culmination of the Child Protection Compact (CPC) Partnership between the United States and the Philippine Governments, PLDT and Smart pledged to continue enabling programs of the Philippine Department of Justice Inter-Agency Council Against Trafficking (DOJ-IACAT) and International Justice Mission (IJM) for Filipino children.

To cap the Cybersecurity Awareness Month, PLDT and Smart held back-to-back bootcamps of the CyberSmart online caravan for local government units, Department of Education (DepEd) personnel and the public, to equip them with knowledge and skills on data protection.

PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) are boosting the country’s cyber defenses with the help of students and the youth. In celebration of the national Cybersecurity Awareness Month this September, Smart kicked off the CyberSmart online caravan series in Luzon.

With more businesses going digital in the pandemic, PLDT urges the implementation of extensive cybersecurity measures to prevent, combat, and mitigate cyber threats and attacks.
