Metrobank Founder and Group Chairman Dr. George S.K. Ty is this year’s winner of the MVP Bossing Lifetime Achievement Award, while A. Magsaysay Inc.’s President and CEO Doris Magsaysay–Ho tops the 2018 recipients as the Grand MVP Bossing Awardee, during the culmination of the nationwide search for exemplary businesses and leaders, held at the Grand Hyatt Hotel.
Since 2009, the MVP Bossing Awards has put the spotlight on the Filipino entrepreneurial spirit, celebrating local business owners and leaders who have achieved success, with the aim of motivating others to pursue their dreams and aspirations.
“Our Bossings are living proof that there are no shortcuts when it comes to success. It is my fervent wish that their stories inspire and empower Filipino entrepreneurs to pursue excellence and ambition, without sacrificing their integrity — the traits of a true Bossing,” said PLDT Chairman and CEO Manny V. Pangilinan.
“We’ve received over 200 nominees since we launched in April, and that speaks volumes about the influence and prestige that the awards exhibit. Tonight is a culmination of that, and we are truly honored and excited to announce the new batch of MVP Bossings,” said FVP and Head of PLDT SME Nation Mitch Locsin.
This year, PLDT Enterprise recognized the achievements of Mary Grace Dimacali, founder of Mary Grace Foods Inc.; Margarita Forés, founder of Cibo; Johnlu Koa, founder of The French Baker; David Leechiu, CEO of Leechiu Property Consultants; Benjie and Maan Lolim, founders of LDP Farms; Richard Sanz, CEO of The FoodAsia Group; Dioceldo Sy, Chairman of Ever Bilena Cosmetics; Raj Uttamchandani, Chairman and CEO of Esquire Financing Inc.; and Delfin Wenceslao Jr., Director and Chairman of the Board at D.M. Wenceslao and Associates Incorporated — all of whom made it to this year’s roster of MVP Bossings.
“Through the MVP Bossing Awards, we wish to empower our local entrepreneurs to make it big despite the odds. Because their successes contribute greatly to society — promoting nation building and inclusive growth along the way,” said PLDT Chief Revenue Officer and ePLDT President & CEO Eric R. Alberto.
Special awards were also given to the City Government of Mandaluyong Mayor Menchie Abalos for her outstanding efforts in public service, championing the welfare of women and children, while Jam Acuzar was recognized for her excellent CSR initiatives, promoting the local arts through the Bellas Artes Project.
“More than their personal successes, we want to highlight that a true Bossing isn’t afraid of change as they drive digital transformation in their respective industries — empowering other businesses to follow suit,” said SVP and Head of PLDT & Smart Enterprise Business Groups Jovy Hernandez.
Now on its 8th year, the MVP Bossing Awards has awarded over 80 illustrious thought leaders and entrepreneurs.
