Christina and Christopher Chan celebrate their 25-year career in PLDT.
A lot can happen in 25 years. This is especially true for Christina Chan, who currently works as Category Head under PLDT’s Access Network Procurement. To Christina, the country’s largest integrated telco PLDT is like a second home. In the past 25 years, she has worked in several departments within the company. But most importantly, it was in PLDT that she met the love of her life – a fellow 25-year-service awardee Christopher Chan.
Together with the couple, PLDT Chairman Manuel V Pangilinan also celebrates his 25 years in the company. As part of its 95th anniversary, PLDT recently feted the Chan couple and other loyal employees through the Pamana Awards, an annual event which celebrates the loyalty and dedication of the PLDT workforce. “We are very proud to organize the Pamana Awards every year because it is one of the ways we strive to inspire generations upon generations of PLDT employees, that their hard work and loyalty will allow them to thrive in the company and reach their dreams,” according to Gina Ordoñez, Chief People Officer of PLDT.
“PLDT is my first job. I had been loyal to PLDT for 25 years. Right after college and passing the ECE licensure exam back in November 1998, I was hired as part of the last batch of Quality Control Inspection engineers, which is now the Revenue Assurance Group,” Christina said. “I still vividly remember being asked if I was interested to work in PLDT, and I answered, ‘Opo, pangarap ko po magtrabaho sa PLDT.’ (Yes, it is my dream to work in PLDT.). Fast forward today, it was indeed a dream come true as I have thrived 25 years with the company,” said Christina.

Christina recalls how she has been fortunate enough to join several departments in her 25 years in the company. She started as a Quality Control Inspection (QCI) Engineer. After four years, she transferred to Purchasing Center where she was exposed to the different facets of the buying process of the organization. She then navigated her way through Corporate Governance Office and Asset & Materials Management Group. But ultimately, she found her way back to Procurement where she has been leading the various Network Procurement Pillars for the past 12 years.
“What drives me, what fills my heart with fulfillment and purpose, is the opportunity to make meaningful connections and provide the best service for our North Star—our customers. The dedicated individuals I have had the privilege to work with are the real heroes who make it all possible. They inspire me daily, reaffirming that I am indeed working with the right people and the right company,” said Chan.
For Chan, PLDT will always have a special place in her heart. It’s a home where she found the love of her life and even more so, a place where she believes she has been given the greatest privilege of serving the Filipino people.
