Teddy Pascual, Jr. receives the 100,000-peso check for winning the Balik Tuition Promo 2 grand prize.
Twenty-one-year-old Teddy Pascual, Jr. was scrolling through his social media newsfeed when he chanced upon Smart’s ‘Balik Tuition Promo 2’ ad.
“I thought I’d try my luck. So, I registered and joined the promo hoping to win a laptop,” said the sophomore college student at Tarlac State University (TSU).
Pascual didn’t even bother reading the rest of the ad. Thinking he might not even win, he skipped the part where it said he could take home the 100,000-peso grand prize.
So, imagine his surprise when he received a call from Smart saying that he had won ₱100,000.
“I had to search for the ad again to confirm that there is indeed a cash prize,” he recalled.
Teddy Pascual, Jr. also wins Smart Bro Pocket WiFi kits for his school, Tarlac State University.
Pascual joins nine other grand prize winners in the ‘Balik Tuition Promo 2’ where Smart has raffled off more than Php 2 million worth of prizes including 20 smartphones, 10 laptops and 10 tablets.
Pascual is taking B.S. Information Technology major in Web and Mobile Application. With the COVID-19 pandemic restricting face-to-face classes in the past two years, Pascual has been using his smartphone for online learning.
“I really need my own computer. My smartphone could not handle resource-heavy programs,” he said. Pascual has been using mobile applications to write computer codes that he sends to the group leader for testing. He relied on Smart’s GigaStudy or AllData packages to attend virtual classes and complete his projects.
Smart fuels the Gen-Z to do it all with the newest Giga Power. Available on the Giga Life App and other channels, the package enables students to enjoy open access data at a more affordable rate.
“Smart empowers young go-getters with unlimited opportunities to discover what they love. With Giga Power, they can pursue their passions and realize their true potential,” said Antonette Orpilla, Smart Head of Communities Marketing.
Pascual plans to assemble a desktop computer that could run special software for his projects. He also saves up for future expenses. With his mom the only one supporting him, he is grateful that his scholarship at TSU waives his tuition.
“I want to become a software developer and let my mom rest. As far as I can remember, she has always been working,” he said.
On top of the cash prize, Pascual also won 50 Smart Bro Pocket WiFi kits for TSU.
