Japan Ambassador to the Philippines Toshinao Urabe and Embassy of Japan First Secretary Kazuto Okazaki visited the Asia Submarine-cable Express (ASE) landing station in Daet, Camarines Norte recently. Owned by leading telecoms provider PLDT together with NTTCom of Japan, Telekom Malaysia, and StarHub of Singapore, the $300-million ASE was also built in partnership with NEC Corp. and Fujitsu Ltd. The Daet Cable Landing Station (DCLS) is the gateway of the 7,200-kilometer ASE that connects Singapore, Malaysia, Philippines, Hong Kong, and Japan.
