Directors and Officers from the PLDT Group and the other MVP Group companies, gathered recently for their 18th Annual Corporate Governance Enhancement Session (ACGES) to learn more about leveraging big data and artificial intelligence to drive business, and leading change by re-focusing and re-energizing business strategy, organization, and culture for success.
PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V Pangilinan led the roster of leaders and executives from PLDT Inc., Smart Communications, Inc., Manila Electric Co. (MERALCO), and other companies in the MVP Group in joining the discussions with David Morey, Chairman and CEO of DMG Global, best-selling author of “The Underdog Advantage”, “The Leadership Campaign”, “Creating Business Magic”, and “Innovating Innovation”. David Morey has advised six Nobel Peace Prize winners and twenty-two winning global presidential campaigns, along with Fortune 500 CEOs and companies. Attendees also engaged in discussions with Erika Fille T. Legara, PhD., Aboitiz Chair in Data Science and Founding Director of the Master of Science in Data Science Program at the Asian Institute of Management. Dr. Legara is also Managing Director and Chief AI and Data Officer at the Center for AI Research.
PLDT’s Independent Director, Ms. Bernadine T. Siy, delivered the opening remarks, highlighting the Group’s mission – “to ensure that all Filipinos can benefit from the digital revolution, by harnessing the power of technology to amplify the impact of the companies’ products and services, accelerate inclusion, and improve the quality of life for everyone.”
Following Dr. Legara's talk on building a data-driven business, a panel composed of business leaders, Jojo Gendrano, PLDT Chief Information Security Officer and SVP and Head of Enterprise Business Group; Rocky Bacani, FVP and Head, Information, Communications, Technology and Transformation at MERALCO; and Albert Padin, Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer of mWell, also discussed thought-provoking questions on the challenges and opportunities of harnessing big data within the MVP Group to deliver enhanced customer experience.
Over 650 MVP Group directors, officers, and executives from the PLDT Group, MERALCO, Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Philex Mining Corporation, PXP Energy Corp., Roxas Holdings, Inc., Maynilad, Asian Hospital and Medical Center, Metro Pacific Health, Metro Pacific Tollways, NLEX Corporation, Mediaquest Holdings, Makati Medical Center, Maya, Davao Doctors Hospital, Voyager Innovations, Kayana, mWell, and Cignal joined the half-day hybrid session. The session was capped by a fireside chat between Pangilinan and Morey, who also answered questions from the audience.
