MANILA, Philippines, May 06, 2011 – PLDT Alpha Enterprise, PLDT’s recently-launched business management arm handling relationships with top-tier enterprises in the country, and NTT Communications (NTTCom) have expanded their joint Internet Protocol Virtual Private Network (IPVPN) offering to include Ethernet speeds for Japanese customers and other Multinational Corporations.

IPVPN services enable secure multisite connectivity for large corporations. It is a multipoint or any-to-any networking solution that enables direct data communication from each site via IP. Through the new Ethernet speed offering, bandwidth options are now easily upgraded.

Ethernet enables a fundamental leap in carrier networking due to its scalability, scope and cost-efficiency. Ethernet allows customers to easily scale their bandwidth to higher speeds in line with the growth of their business through easy logical changes–no physical re-provisioning is required.  This significantly shortens the lead-time for provisioning and lowers the cost of upgrades.

PLDT VP and Alpha Enterprise Head Jovy Hernandez spoke of the proliferation of Ethernet as the new standard for data communication. “Owing to its unmatched scalability, worldwide Ethernet revenues are expected to grow at an annual growth rate of 25% to US$7.8 billion by 2014, according to an Insight Research study.”

PLDT Alpha Enterprise can leverage on NTTCom’s worldwide points-of-presence in Japan, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, India, Mainland China, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, and other areas in Europe and the United States.

The partnership also leverages on PLDT’s recently-acquired International Certifications on Ethernet – MEF 9 and 14, the only Philippine Telco with such a distinction.  “PLDT’s compliance with MEF’s strictest specifications proves its capability to provide global-standard Ethernet solutions,” says PLDT VP and Head of Corporate Business Solutions Vic Tria. “The MEF 9 and 14 certifications validate PLDT’s Ethernet network as world-class in quality, robustness and above all, reliability.”
NTTCom is Asia's no.1 managed service provider supporting both global and domestic network services all over the world.  Together with NTT Docomo, NTT owns 21% of PLDT.

“NTTCom is proud to be a partner of PLDT in offering Ethernet Services to the Enterprise Market.  The combined strength of both companies offers a unique value proposition to our clients.” shares NTT Executive Advisor Makoto Handa.
