PLDT recently supported the 34th “Hiyas Sa Kadayawan,” one of the most anticipated events in Davao City’s annual celebration of the Kadayawan Festival.

“Hiyas Sa Kadayawan” is a beauty pageant that highlights the unique culture of the contestants who represent the indigenous tribes of Mindanao. PLDT sponsored a special award, the “Hiyas ng PLDT,” which embodies the Company’s core values, reflecting the individual's sense of goodness that entails caring and loving, belonging, friendship, and humility to listen to others amid life's successes and triumphs.

PLDT Home Fibr powered the coronation night event as it was livestreamed, garnering over 60,000 views online. 

Aileem Maray
As this year’s “Hiyas ng PLDT”, Aileem Maray receives P5,000 cash and a special gift from PLDT.

This year, PLDT Mindanao Area Consumer Experience Head Alan Abrina and PLDT Customer Development Management Executive Jun Palar conferred the “Hiyas ng PLDT” special award to Aileen Maray from the Ata Tribe. She received P5,000 cash and a special gift from the company.

“It is with great honor that we welcome to our PLDT HOME, our newest ambassador – “Hiyas ng PLDT” 2019 Ms. Aileem Maray,” Abrina said.

“In PLDT, a part of our CSR efforts is geared towards supporting our country’s culture and arts. It is always a privilege to participate in Davao City’s Kadayawan Festival, a celebration that showcases people’s talents and creativity,” said  PLDT ComRel Division Head Katherine P. Diaz De Rivera.

Nurainie Ampatuan of the Maguindanaon tribe won the “Hiyas Sa Kadayawan” 2019  crown, besting 10 other contestants. Ampatuan, 22, has a degree in Fine Arts major in Fashion Design. She has her own clothing line where she utilizes and highlights her tribe’s Inaul fabric in her contemporary designs.

Meanwhile, Sama Tribe’s Coraima Hasim and Bagobo Tagabawa Tribe’s Jessa Andian were crowned “Hiyas Sa Panaghiusa” 2019 and “Hiyas Sa Kalambuan” 2019, respectively.
