Last November 25-29, 2019, PLDT celebrated its 91st anniversary with the theme ‘Gratitude.’ Spearheaded by the People Group, the 91st anniversary was a week-long celebration of thanksgiving and love for the company as it reached another milestone year.  Together as one PLDT family, the celebration was filled with solidarity and gratitude.

A series of activities were held to celebrate the 91st anniversary of the company starting with a thanksgiving Mass at PLDT Makati General Office's Our Lady of Manaoag Chapel. The Mass, spearheaded by the Community Relations team, was attended by over 100 employees.

"Thank you, PLDT!" was an activity where employees shared their gratitude and appreciation for PLDT by writing a message on the Gratitude Wall or by posting it on the company's internal social media platform Workplace by Facebook. PLDT Gratitude Card templates were also provided to employees where they wrote a message of thanks to their colleagues. Another way of showing gratitude to a colleague or leader was by giving a recognition BidaOne badge via PLDT's  performance management platform, DigiPEP.

On November 28, employees celebrated the anniversary of the company wearing their “OOTD” red shirts. Ice cream treats were given to employees — a sweet way of recognizing 91 years of pioneering and leading digital innovation.

A meet and greet opportunity with PLDT Chairman and CEO Manuel V. Pangilinan was also held on November 27 at the PLDT Ramon Cojuangco Building Driveway. The Chairman together with PLDT Chief Revenue Officer Al S. Panlilio personally served coffee to the employees.

On November 22, PLDT recognized its 759 service awardees, composed of 260 25-year-service awardees, 269 30-year-service awardees, 26 35-year-service awardees, and 10 40-year-service awardees. This year’s service awards was held at the Mayuree Grand Ballroom in Dusit Thani Hotel, Makati City

According to PLDT FVP for People Enablement and Operations Atty. Alfie D. Suarez, the annual PLDT Service Awards will now be called “Pamana Awards Night” to put emphasis that we are celebrating both years of service and contribution, highlighting one’s legacy in PLDT.”

Ma. Nora A. Dela Costa, best known to her family and friends as May, is a 25-year-service awardee. PLDT was Dela Costa’s first job — one that she applied for just a few days after her college graduation. She currently serves as a nurse under the Medical Services Division of the company. For Dela Costa, one of the main reasons why she stayed in the company is because it offers a competitive benefits package including medical benefits. She feels a sense of security knowing that the company will have her back in terms of covering any medical expenses.

Dela Costa started as a traffic operator in 1994. Connecting domestic and international calls was her main job then. In 2001, she became an executive secretary to the late Alex Fabian, who was then a vice president of the company. While working, she pursued her first love — nursing — as she studied in the University of Makati. It was in 2015 that she transferred to the Clinical Services Department where she was able to practice her profession as a nurse.

With 25 years of experience as a PLDT employee, Dela Costa offers an advice to the younger generation of employees: “It is important that you exert all your best efforts in the job that you love. PLDT offers countless opportunities for its employees. Don’t miss out on these opportunities,” she said.

Dela Costa has always sought for growth and development — whether personally or professionally. According to Dela Costa, one’s hard work and perseverance will eventually bloom. “Your love and loyalty for the company will take you to places. It sure has served me well and I look forward to reach my 30 years of service in PLDT,” Dela Costa said.
