MANILA, Philippines, December 3, 2015 – PLDT, the country’s leading telecoms and digital services provider, is once again the only Philippine company honored at the MEF 2015 Excellence Awards held recently in Dallas, Texas. The annual MEF Excellence Awards is the largest and longest-running award giving body in the world focused on Carrier Ethernet services and applications for enterprises.
PLDT won Retail Service Provider of the Year – Asia Pacific for the second time in a row, while PLDT Network Engineer for Product & Services Network & Platform Solutions Marjory Sy was named the MEF Carrier Ethernet Certified Professional (CECP) of the Year Award. PLDT was also a finalist for the Enterprise Application and Service Provider of the Year awards and Sy was also nominated as Industry Person of the Year.
Carrier Ethernet solutions are ubiquitous, standardized, carrier-class service and network that are used by large local and multinational enterprises such as those in banking and finance, business process outsourcing, manufacturing, telecom, IT industries, and public sector institutions. Its five attributes, namely: Standardized Services, Scalability, Reliability, Quality of Service, and Service Management, distinguish Carrier Ethernet from the more familiar customer local area network (LAN).

The MEF Excellence Awards recognizes the best services, technology, professional excellence, leadership, and innovation in the global Carrier Ethernet community. The Awards were given at the MEF Global Ethernet Networking (GEN 15) 2015 conference gala.
PLDT bested finalists from around the region for the Retail Service Provider of the Year-APAC Award. Serving on the judges’ panel were senior analysts from Current Analysis, Frost & Sullivan, IDC, IHS Infonetics, Metanoia, Ovum, SDxCentral, Vertical Systems, joined by independent judges.
PLDT provides Metro e-Line (point-to-point), Metro e-WAN (any-to-any), e-Tree (rooted-multipoint), and e-Access (interconnection) solutions under its Carrier Ethernet 1.0 (CE1.0) certification, with port- and VLAN-based applications of these solutions, available under its Carrier Ethernet 2.0 (CE2.0) certification.
PLDT is the first service provider in the world to obtain CE 2.0 certifications for all 8 Ethernet services in 2013. In addition, it continuously invests in bolstering the Ethernet capabilities of its people. The company now has 66 MEF Carrier Ethernet Certified Professionals (CECP’s)—the most in the country.
It was also awarded the Regional Service Provider of the Year-APAC in 2012, the Retail Service Provider of the Year-APAC in 2014, and is a three-time winner of the MEF Carrier Ethernet Award for Best Marketing Campaign.
