The country’s largest online competition recently concluded as four student teams and four teachers from all over the country competed in the 6th PLDT myDSL Broadband Quiz. Tested on their computer and internet prowess, Salvador Besares Jr. and Maveric Molina from Ramon Avanceña National High School in Iloilo were named Grand Champions in the student’s category, while Mary Joyce Gazo of Potrero National High School in Malabon won in the teacher’s category. Winners were awarded with cash prizes, as well as a computer showcase for their respective schools.
This competition is part of PLDT’s Infoteach Outreach Program, a community outreach program of PLDT Community Relations Division headed by Evelyn M. Del Rosario. The program trains public school teachers and students on I.T. literacy. “Attuned to PLDT’s slogan, our program truly bound to change lives and produce the best individuals who are efficiently-trained and socially valuable. Thus to say, that through the Program, even the most marginalized sectors in the country has an opportunity to really dream and realize their full potentials,” said Del Rosario.
PLDT Public Affairs Head Ramon R. Isberto noted that studies have shown that I.T. literate countries are more likely to progress, and this project is our way of helping the country grow.
