Iloilo City is bustling with artistic minds, most especially from today’s generation. It is during its much awaited Dinagyang Festival where the creative mindset is working at its finest.
In its continuous pursuit of the arts, PLDT held an art workshop anchored in this year’s Iloilo Dinagyang celebration with the theme, “Connecting communities through culture and faith.” The art workshop was held at the PLDT Panay Consumer Experience Zone Office.
“In PLDT, we give our full support in empowering the youth to discover themselves through many artistic ways. The Dinagyang Festival is a wonderful platform to bring culture, tradition, and art in the forefront of every grand celebration,” said PLDT Community Relations Division Head Katherine P. Diaz De Rivera.
In partnership with Museo Iloilo, the PLDT art workshop invited children aged 6-12 years old to create an image that encapsulates the strong connection between Iloilo’s rich culture and faith as yearly celebrated in the Dinagyang Festival. Visual artists from Museo Iloilo Jason Delgado and Neil Anthony Alonday conducted the art workshop.
The event was held in coordination with the PLDT Panay Consumer Experience Zone and with the support of its employee volunteers headed by Rene Lescano. The participants came from four barangays within Iloilo City, including Barangay Navais, Barangay Nabitasan, Barangay Sinikway, and Barangay Magsaysay Villa Paz.
The winners of the art workshop were awarded with cash prize sponsored by PLDT. This year’s winners are 9-year old Cardashian D. Faban and 9-year old Shan Iro S. Centina from Barangay Sinikway; 10-year old ElykaJean Salcedo from Barangay Navais; 8 year-old Angella Segura, 10 year-old Maezelle Grace Cordero Delmo, and 10-year old Ron Miru Gonzales who are all from Barangay Magsaysay Villa Paz.
Adding color to Dinagyang Festival 2019
As one looks around the Plaza Zarzuela, one could see colors and creativity bursting from the seams.
PLDT, through its ComRel Division, also partnered with Museo Iloilo in bringing together more than 1,000 participants in this year’s on-the-spot painting contest.
Since 2010, PLDT has partnered with Museo Iloilo as they bring vibrant colors to this year’s Dinagyang Festival.
Moreover, the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2019 was one of the most anticipated events during the Dinagyang Festival 2019. PLDT turned over some premium items to its chosen Miss PLDT Elaine Segura, who was also hailed as Miss Iloilo Dinagyang-Heritage Queen and all five Miss Iloilo Dinagyang Festival Queens, including this year’s Miss Iloilo Dinagyang Festival Carnival Queen 2019. As Miss PLDT, Segura also received P5,000 in cash from the Company. Representing PLDT, Diaz De Rivera was also part of the Board of Judges during the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang 2019.
Part of PLDT’s sponsorship also included providing Internet connectivity during the Miss Iloilo Dinagyang Festival 2019.
PLDT, through its Iloilo Operations, Store, and Sales team, also joined the festival parade. The parade participation of PLDT was made more vibrant as mardigras dancers performed along the way.
To make its presence even more felt, PLDT also set up a booth during the Dinagyang Festival 2019. Festivalgoers were able to create their own accessories, play digital games and take photos at PLDT Home’s festival-themed booth. Moreover, PLDT and Smart also offered their latest products which were PLDT Home Fibr + Google WiFi, PLDT Home Prepaid WiFi, and Smart Giga X Plans.
The Dinagyang Festival 2019 was a celebration of faith, camaraderie, and togetherness. Indeed, PLDT powered up Iloilo’s Dinagyang Festival 2019 as it enriched the experience of every local and tourist, alike.
