Advisory 6: MVP group extends more aid to Carina-hit communities
Tulong Kapatid, the consortium of foundations and companies led by Manuel V Pangilinan, brought much needed assistance to the residents of Apalit, Macabebe, and San Simon, Pampanga—some of the many areas badly hit by Super Typhoon Carina.
Representatives of Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. (AKFI), Maynilad Water Services, Inc., One Meralco Foundation (OMF), Makati Medical Center Foundation (MMCF), Metro Pacific Investments Foundation (MPIF), NLEX Corporation, PLDT, Smart Communications, Inc., and PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) distributed aid in the form of bottled water, children’s toys, hot meals, Libreng Tawag and Libreng Charging services, relief goods, and assorted vitamins and meds to affected families in the community.
Yesterday, Aug. 1, representatives and trade partners of PLDT, Smart and PSF, in coordination with local government units of Brgy Malanday, Marikina; Sablayan, Mindoro Occidental; and San Pedro, Laguna, also provided assistance to benefit affected communities.
Alongside these relief activities, PLDT, Smart and PSF and Maya Philippines continue to encourage the public to participate in the ongoing digital fundraising effort to reach more Carina-hit Filipinos.

Advisory 5: PLDT, Smart, PSF expand aid with MVP group’s Tulong Kapatid to Carina-hit communities
PLDT, Smart Communications Inc., and PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) scale their assistance to more affected communities, following Super Typhoon Carina. On Monday, July 29, company personnel and representatives turned over relief packages to Mayor Agatha Cruz of Guiguinto, Bulacan; Vice Mayor Vianca Gozon of Balanga City, Bataan; Mayor John A. Sambo of Sto. Tomas, Pampanga; Mayor Irene Maniquiz of Iba, Zambales; Mayor Strike Revilla of Bacoor City, Cavite; Vice Mayor Rondon Mercado of Minalin, Pampanga; Vice Mayor Angelito Rubia of Mariveles, Bataan; the office of Mayor Glorime Faustino of Calumpit, Bulacan; and Brgy. Dampalit in Malabon City.
Over the weekend, the Group deployed relief assistance in the form of food packs and vital communication links to affected communities in Central and South Luzon and in the National Capital Region.
PLDT, Smart, PSF are also working with Tulong Kapatid, the corporate social responsibility consortium of companies and foundations led by Manual V Pangilinan, local government units, and local response teams to provide more aid where needed most.
Anchored on the core value of malasakit, the PLDT group together with Tulong Kapatid continue to find ways to provide assistance to Filipinos in need. These efforts also underscore the PLDT group’s broader advocacy to help build a #SafeandSmart Philippines. Advisory 4 (25 July 2024 6:30 p.m. Philippine Standard Time): PLDT, Smart widen comms aid to Carina-hit Central and South Luzon, scale up digital fund drive
PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. continue to provide much needed assistance to communities affected by Typhoon Carina.
Just recently, the group concluded its #LibrengTawag, #LibrengCharging, and soup kitchen services, mounted together with Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc., which benefited over 1,000 residents temporarily seeking shelter at Concepcion Integrated School in Marikina.
Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng Wi-Fi stations are also currently operational at the PAGCOR Socio Civic Center, Brgy. Pansipit, Agoncillo, Batangas, one of the areas severely hit by the typhoon.
Together with its social outreach arm, PLDT-Smart Foundation, the group continues to work with local government units and response teams to provide aid in the form of communication assistance, relief packs, and mobile soup kitchens, for the benefit of Carina-hit communities in Central Luzon, Southern Luzon, and the National Capital Region.
Additional free calling and charging stations will be available to connect affected residents to their loved ones in the following areas this weekend:

A digital fund drive is also currently in progress to support affected communities. The MVP group encourages the public to scan the Maya QR code to contribute to the fund-raising drive. To provide additional assistance, Maya has also waived penalties for eligible users of Maya Easy Credit and Maya Personal Loan until Aug. 15, 2024.

Efforts are underway for a digital fund drive to benefit those impacted by #CarinaPH. MVP Group customers, partners, and the general public are encouraged to scan the Maya QR Code to extend help to affected communities at this time of need.
To help connect #CarinaPH-affected residents to their loved ones, PLDT and Smart will be offering Libreng Tawag services at the Concepcion Integrated School Evacuation Center in Marikina, today, July 25.
The MVP Group, through the Alagang Kapatid Foundation, Inc. (AKFI) will also provide hot meals to evacuees who have sought temporary shelter at the center.

Advisory 2 (24 July 2024 12:00 p.m. Philippine Standard Time): PLDT, Smart network remain resilient following intense rains, flooding in NCR, Northern Luzon
PLDT and Smart assure their customers that network services remain operational and resilient, amid the onslaught of #CarinaPH, except in areas affected by commercial power interruption.
As of 11 a.m. Philippine Standard Time, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) has reported that #CarinaPH continues to intensify with maximum sustained winds of 165 km/h and gustiness of up to 205 km/h, as it heads towards Taiwan.
“PLDT group continues to monitor the situation and has prepositioned mission-critical manpower and resources to respond to communities in need,” said Cathy Yang, FVP and Group Head, Corporate Communications at PLDT and Smart.
The public is advised to take the necessary precautions and heed the alerts and warnings of local government units and disaster response authorities.

Advisory 1 (23 July 2024 02:30 p.m. Philippine Standard Time): PLDT, Smart ready to extend comms aid to those impacted by Typhoon Carina
PLDT and wireless unit Smart Communications are prepared to extend assistance to those who are faced with challenging conditions due to Typhoon Carina. As of July 23, Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1 is in effect in parts of Luzon, bringing strong winds and heavy rainfall.
"We are on standby to extend much needed assistance to those who are affected by Carina. We are assessing the situation with our network and sales teams nationwide, and are ready to deploy libreng tawag (free calls), libreng charging (free charging), and libreng Wi-Fi (free Wi-Fi), as well as immediate relief aid to those who may need it," said PLDT and Smart First Vice President and Group Corporate Communications Head Cathy Yang.
Rainfall and gusts are expected in many parts of Luzon, including Metro Manila, as well as some areas in Visayas and Mindanao, as the typhoon is forecast to move north northwestward before exiting Philippine Area of Responsibility on Thursday.
The public is advised to take safety precautions and heed instructions from the authorities.
