Efforts of PLDT, Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) and PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF) are still underway to provide immediate assistance in the form of communication as aid, relief goods, and hygiene kits to communities affected by the recent Magnitude 7 earthquake that rocked North Luzon.

Communication as aid
To help residents get back on their feet, PLDT and Smart have assured impacted customers of continued service, with the deferment of disconnection for non-payment of PLDT Home and Smart postpaid bills, until August 15. Smart has also provided emergency load assistance to customers in the quake-hit areas of Abra, Benguet, Ilocos Sur and Mountain Province.

PLDT and Smart have also reopened their stores to serve the public. Stores in Bangued, Bucay, Dolores, Lagangilang, Penarrubia, San Juan and Tayum in Abra; La Trinidad in Benguet; Bantay, Candon, and Vigan in Ilocos Sur; Bauko, Sadanga, Sagada and Tadian in Mountain Province, are now available to cater to the needs of PLDT and Smart customers.

Free calls and wifi services continue
Libreng Tawag and Libreng Wi-Fi stations continue to provide much needed connectivity to affected communities, allowing them to communicate with their families and loved ones. The following stations will continue to operate until August 3:

Abra
Town Plaza. Bangued, Abra

Ilocos Sur
Landmark Bldg, Jose Singson St, Poblacion, Vigan City, Ilocos Sur

More help on the way
Volunteers and partners of PLDT, Smart, and PSF are also working round the clock to prepare relief goods for turnover to the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC) to benefit hardest hit communities in the coming days.
