Employee volunteers from PLDT and Smart spearheaded the MVP Group’s We Got Your Vac immunization program in Robinsons Cagayan de Oro.

Cagayan de Oro (CDO) employees across PLDT and Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), along with their dependents, recently availed of their first jab against COVID-19, under the We Got Your Vac immunization program of the MVP group of companies. Security and utility personnel, considered an essential part of the workforce, were also included among the vaccinees.

PLDT CDO employee Marciano Noynay, who was the first one to get vaccinated, shared, “Being vaccinated is really important for me as my job requires us to go out on field. I am thankful that the MVP Group initiated this program to protect their employees from COVID-19.”

Vicenta Ladesma, PLDT maintenance staff, was hesitant to get the jab at the onset due to rumors about the vaccine. “My daughter persuaded me to get the vaccine. I also did research and eventually became convinced that it is safe,” she said.

Cristy Maghinay, PLDT Sales and Customer Service Associate, was also reluctant to get vaccinated. She shared, “I finally decided to avail of the vaccine through the MVP Group because I knew we would be safe and comfortable. True to my expectations, I didn't have to wait for long, and the process was smooth and easy. I know I made the right decision.”

The Robinsons Cagayan de Oro site is one of the 30 locations targeted by the MVP Group’s Vaccination Task Force.

Malasakit
“You can really see the spirit of malasakit in the MVP Group of companies,” said Junilyn Pol, Smart Customer Marketing Manager, who enlisted two of her dependents in the program.

Charito Asas, member of the CDO Vaccine Task Force, was happy he was able to assist with the program and convince other employees to get vaccinated. “This program is such a huge help for the employees, and for our country to achieve herd immunity. I thank the MVP Group for extending this program to our guards, janitors, and dependents. It shows their malasakit to their workers,” he added.

The initiative for MVP Group’s 60,000-strong workforce began with the inoculation of non-medical employees in the first week of July, following vaccinations for the conglomerate’s own Hospital Group in Q1 of this year. The Robinsons CDO vaccination site was one of the 30 sites targeted by the MVP Group’s Vaccine Task Force headed by PLDT Chairman, Manuel V. Pangilinan.
