PLDT completes P861 million Palawan undersea fiber optic cable project

Telecoms leader PLDT has completed the rollout of nearly 300 kilometers of state-of-the-art submarine fiber optic cables linking Palawan province in western Philippines to the rest of the PLDT network to meet the rapidly increasing demand for robust and reliable telecoms and data services in one of the country’s top tourist destinations.

MANILA, Philippines, January 14, 2014– Leading telecoms company PLDT has completed the installation of over 150 kilometers of submarine fiber optic cables costing over P400 million that will link the island of Bohol with the major network centers in Visayas and Mindanao, providing a much needed boost to the earthquake-hit province.

MANILA, Philippines, October 14, 2013 – Leading telecoms company PLDT is investing more than P1 billion to expand its fiber network in Bohol to meet increased demand for telecoms and data services due to the expected expansion of the call center and outsourcing industries and the implementation of major development projects in the province, such as the New Bohol International Airport in Panglao island.
