PLDT Inc. and Smart Communications, Inc. capped a stellar 2022 with over 100 citations from local and international organizations for pioneering brand, corporate social responsibility, cybersecurity, network and sustainability initiatives.

Armando Dodjie Lim, better known to his family, friends, and colleagues as “Dodjie”, joined PLDT in 1987. His eagerness to explore and discover new things enabled him to learn various skills that eventually made him an executive in the company.

For delivering topnotch network services in 2022, leading integrated telco network PLDT Inc. (PLDT) and its wireless subsidiary Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have been cited by various international award-giving bodies throughout the year.

PLDT Inc., through its subsidiaries Smart Communications, Inc. and Digitel Mobile Philippines, and Unity Digital Infrastructure Inc., a joint venture between Aboitiz InfraCapital, Inc. and leading global private markets firm Partners Group, recently signed a Php 9.2 billion Sale and Purchase Agreement covering 650 telecommunications towers and related passive telecommunications infrastructure, as well as a Master Services Agreement covering the lease back of the said towers.

“Thirty years ago – that was when I first set foot at PLDT, trying my corporate luck after going through the rigorous process of recruitment. [This is] actually my first job,” said Monett Lansang, a PLDT employee who has served the company for 30 years.

It's not the app as we know it these days, but a telegram in the late 90s served its purpose just the same for Michael Surla, a PLDT employee who has been with the company for 25 years. “It was a small piece of paper that changed my life,” Surla said. “That telegram included details that told me to report to PLDT for a possible employment.”

PLDT and Smart President and CEO Al Panlilio has been recognized as CEO of the Year at the 2022 Asia Communication Awards, the recognition program for outstanding telco players organized by Total Telecom.
