Globe’s motion is basis for nullifying its Islacom acquisition – PLDT

MANILA, Philippines, August 11, 2011 – Telecom leader PLDT has asked the National Telecommunications Commission to dismiss outright and to "expunge from the records" a last-minute motion of Globe Telecom seeking a stop to PLDT's acquisition of Digital Telecommunications Philippines Inc. (Digitel), arguing that the twisted logic of Globe’s manifestation provides grounds for nullifying its own acquisition of Isla Communications in 2001.

PLDT questions Globe's use of broadcast company's radio frequencies

MANILA, Philippines, August 3, 2011 – A senior PLDT official has asked the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to recall the radio frequencies of a broadcasting company which he said were being illegally used by Globe Telecom to provide broadband Internet service.

"These frequencies of Altimax Broadcasting should be returned and be made available to interested parties," said Atty. Ray C. Espinosa, PLDT head for regulatory and policy affairs during the briefing on PLDT's first half 2011 results on Tuesday.

MANILA, Philippines, 2nd August 2011 –– Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company today announced that its unaudited financial and operating results for the first six months of 2011 showed Core Net Income declining by 1% to P21.0 billion, from P21.2 billion in 2010, but ahead by 1% compared with the second half of 2010.

MANILA, Philippines, August 01, 2011 – Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (PLDT) and JG Summit Holdings, Inc. agreed to extend anew the closing date of the transaction under the Sale and Purchase Agreement dated March 29, 2011 from July 30, 2011 to August 26, 2011. The parties are awaiting the approvals of various regulatory bodies.
