PLDT eyes “next-wave” cities for growth

MANILA, Philippines, December 20, 2010 – Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has set its sights on “next-wave” cities in Central and Western Visayas and Bicol region for more high-bandwidth customers, particularly those in the Business Process Outsourcing industry.

Next-wave cities are the cities identified by the Business Processing Association of the Philippines (BPA/P), Commission on Information and Communications Technology, and the Department of Trade and Industry as the next growth areas in outsourcing.

PLDT completes P2.8-B fiber optic network expansion

MANILA, Philippines, December 2, 2010 – Philippine Long Distance Telephone Co. (PLDT) has completed a P2.8-billion expansion of its Domestic Fiber Optic Network (DFON), further extending the reach and strengthening the resiliency of the country’s most extensive communications transmission network.

Four phone cable thieves in Bulacan caught

MANILA, Philippines, July 28, 2010 – Four suspects of phone cable theft were apprehended recently by vigilant barangay officials and PLDT Asset Protection personnel in two separate incidents in Bulacan.

The suspects — Jojo B. Pacardo, 21, Jayson M. Javier, 21, Luis A. Boracay, 37, and Arnel Flores, 27 — could face years in jail if proven guilty of the crime of theft. For the two incidents, 48 meters of copper cables were cut and stolen.
