Smart recognized for its mobile network in the Philippines for third consecutive year

PLDT's wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has received an overall score of 785 out of a maximum of 1,000 points for its mobile broadband coverage, user download speed and latency in the Philippines, in a certificate report commissioned from global benchmarking company umlaut, now part of Accenture. This is the third consecutive year that Smart has received high scores for their network.

Smart fully restores services in Palawan

PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) has fully restored communication services in Palawan following the onslaught of super typhoon Odette in December 2021.  

When Odette made landfall in Roxas town in Palawan on December 17, it pounded the province with destructive wind and torrential rains, knocking down utility lines, cutting commercial power supply, and causing major floods.

Smart enables Cagayan de Oro’s online learning in hinterland schools

Online learning in Tignapoloan National High School, a far-flung community in Cagayan de Oro, just got a boost from PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart). For teacher Francis Jay Damit, this luxury was quite unimaginable many years ago. Damit shared, “With the newly built tower, it is now easier for teachers to participate in online activities and trainings. Our students are also exploring more actively online.”

College students nationwide join Smart Prepaid’s InnoGen 2.0 to help rebuild the country

Over 355 college students, grouped into 78 teams, from 29 universities and colleges nationwide, joined the second season of the Smart Prepaid Innovation Generation (InnoGen) – an innovation grant program for the youth. Aligned with Smart’s and parent company PLDT’s core value of malasakit (compassion), InnoGen poses the challenge “How can the youth help the Philippines recover from the pandemic?”

PLDT, Smart en route to Siargao, commencing telco repairs

PLDT and Smart engineers are in Surigao ready to be deployed to Siargao to help repair damaged network sites in the popular tourist destination. Additional personnel are flying in from Manila today bringing with them mission-critical equipment that will aid in the quick restoration of communication services in the area.
