Leading integrated telco PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) with their technology collaborator AST SpaceMobile have met with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) and the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC) to express their support for the government's overall thrust to provide connectivity to Filipinos across the country, including those in far-flung areas.  

Leading mobile services provider Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) will bring to the table its expertise and knowledge on global best practices as it continues to work with government to ensure consumer protection through measures like the SIM card registration bill.

Thirty-three-year-old medical student Ariel Abantes never thought he would actually win anything when he joined Smart’s ‘Balik Tuition Promo 2’ in 2021. And when he did, he thought he only won load credits. But what the sophomore student at Our Lady of Fatima University (OLFU) found out later on was that he was actually taking home the 100-thousand-peso grand prize.

Hundreds of college students, grouped into 40 teams, from 19 universities and colleges nationwide, recently made it to the shortlist for Phase 2 of the Smart Prepaid Innovation Generation (InnoGen) Season 2, an innovation grant program for the youth.

Each of the shortlisted teams will receive a connectivity grant worth P10,000.
