The largest integrated telecommunications company PLDT continues to bolster its support for the government’s initiatives to contain and manage the spread of COVID-19 as it recently announced its expanded support to increase free SMS broadcast services for the Philippine Red Cross’ contact tracing mobile app, RC143, and extending free data usage for downloading and using the app for Smart subscribers.

PLDT group reinforces connectivity and learning tools for teachers and students in Tarlac, most of them from the Aeta community. The initiative is alongside the group’s mission to provide quality education for the Filipino youth, in collaboration with the PLDT-Smart Foundation (PSF), PLDT’s wireless arm Smart Communications and Huawei Philippines.

In support of the National Government’s plan to vaccinate all of the country’s healthcare workers by the end of April, all 18 hospitals of Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings Inc. (MPHHI) have mobilized to vaccinate as many of its frontliners in the shortest possible time. As of March 23, 2021, MPHHI hospitals have vaccinated nearly 80% of their hospital workers with the first of two doses of either Sinovac or AstraZeneca. This is equivalent to 20,492 out of their 25,717 health care workers.

Manuel V Pangilinan and the companies and foundations under his leadership, have also donated 14 Professorial Chairs to the University of the Philippines College of Engineering to aid in their research studies on innovative and tech developments for the country. Through the Metro Pacific Investments Corporation, Pangilinan also committed to donate another professorial chair to the College of Engineering. The MVP Group also provided two more professorial chairs to the UP College of Science.

PLDT Home, through the PLDT Smart Foundation (PSF), recently turned over to the Department of Education (DepEd) one thousand units of Home WiFi Prepaid to enable public school teachers to experience a faster and more reliable internet connection as they conduct online classes, part of the DepEd’s blended learning strategy in these pandemic times.
