PLDT Inc (PLDT), through its Asset Protection and Security Risk Governance (APSRG) Group and in close coordination with local authorities, successfully assisted in the apprehension of a suspect identified as one of the individuals seen in a recent viral video involving the vandalism of a PLDT cabinet in Makati City.

The suspect was apprehended on September 8 in Barangay San Isidro, Makati City during a follow-up operation conducted by the Makati City Police and assisted by the GMM South Asset Protection Division (APD). The individual was allegedly found tampering with a PLDT cable enclosure and in possession of stolen fiber-optic cables. Recovered PLDT network materials and tools were turned over to the Makati City Police Station for proper disposition.

According to PLDT, the suspect was identified as one of the individuals captured in the viral video involving the destruction and vandalism of a PLDT cabinet. Authorities are continuing their efforts to locate the two other individuals seen in the video.

PLDT confirms that the affected cabinet contained no equipment that could impact customer services. No service disruption was reported in connection with the incident.

The company encourages the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities involving telco facilities to local authorities, or to PLDT's Security Hotline Number 164. Such incidents may constitute criminal offenses and can pose risks to communications infrastructure serving communities and businesses.
