The local government unit (LGU) of General Santos (GenSan) City, through its Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), has recently launched the localized version of Better Today PH, PLDT and Smart’s collaborative platform for wellness, safe spaces, and changemaking in the digital world. The launch of @BetterTodayGenSan is part of PLDT and Smart’s month-long efforts for Safer Internet Day 2022.
GenSan is the first partner LGU that has co-branded the Better Today platform. PLDT and Smart are working with other LGUs across the country to add more localized Better Today communities.
@BetterTodayGenSan will host content on mental health awareness and Internet Safety. SK GenSan also held their own version of Better Today’s Time Capsule Project, which invited the youth to send their written and visual entries anchored on the key storytelling pillars of Passion, Strength, Community, and Hope.
“As a way to sustain and enrich our portfolio of content on mental health awareness and Internet safety, we have launched GenSan’s Better Today platform across all social media channels, including Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter. We are privileged to work with PLDT, Smart, and their Better Today program, in championing advocacies such as mental health awareness and Internet safety as we create safer spaces for the youth of GenSan,” said SK GenSan Federation President John Demdam.
“We are very proud of our partners in SK GenSan for launching their own localized version of PLDT and Smart’s Better Today program. As part of our capacity-building roadmap in Better Today, we ensure that our partner LGUs and communities will be able to drive and sustain their advocacies, such as mental health awareness and Internet safety. By creating a unified platform on changemaking, we empower our partners, especially the youth, to take the lead in transforming the digital space into a safer and kinder community,” said Jose Lukban Rosete, Smart’s Assistant Vice President for Government Relations.
Better Today is a key part of PLDT and Smart’s continuing commitment to help the Philippines contribute to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), particularly UNSDG #3 that stands for good health and well-being, and UNSDG #16 that stands against abuse, violence, and exploitation of children.
