PLDT Inc. (PLDT), under the leadership of its Chairman and CEO Manuel V Pangilinan, was recognized for its visionary leadership and unwavering commitment in shaping the telecommunications industry and in elevating the quality of life of overseas Filipino workers at the 3rd Impact Awards of OFW Party List.

MVP, as the business leader is typically called, understands the plight of Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) because he was one himself. Before he started leading conglomerates, MVP spent 22 years working as a corporate executive in Hong Kong – an overseas Filipino who wasn't spared from difficult moments and homesickness, missing the taste of adobo and the warmth of family. The importance of strengthening OFWs’ connection to home, as well as supporting their various needs, is always a point of emphasis for him.

“Our OFWs are an important constituent of our economy, that is why we continue to support initiatives that will improve their welfare and development,” said Pangilinan.

PLDT Global Corporation (PLDT Global), the international unit of PLDT, has been at the forefront of serving Filipinos living overseas. By bringing relevant products and services through its one-stop online marketplace TinBo (Tindahan ni Bossing), Filipino migrants are able to conveniently buy load, pay bills, send food vouchers, e-gifts, and purchase healthcare, gaming, and entertainment vouchers for their families in the Philippines. TinBo also provides overseas Filipinos access to a convenient and secured online bills payment platform for their Philippine utilities, and other digital services while outside the Philippines. TinBo is also a way for PLDT Global to bring global and Filipino brands closer to the overseas Filipino market.

Through its partnership with Philippine government agencies like the Department of Migrant Workers and the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA), PLDT Global is able to expand the reach of its services and integrate critical services like the OWWA Helpline 1348 on the TinBo platform. PLDT Global also supports the government’s reintegration programs by providing digital upskilling opportunities, livelihood packages, and connectivity support to overseas Filipinos and their beneficiaries.

The Impact Awards are given out by the OFW Party List and the Buhay-OFW Foundation, Inc. in line with their advocacy to help protect the rights and promote the welfare of OFWs and their families.

“Through this award, we aim to promote morale, commendable work ethic and professionalism, integrity, resiliency and dedication to the cause of the sector where the nominees belong,” said Congresswoman Marissa “Del Mar” Magsino, who represents OFW Party List in the 19th Congress.

“This award is a validation of our longstanding commitment to uplift and enrich the lives of Filipinos in every corner of the world, and strengthen their connection to their families and loved ones back home,” said Albert V. Villa-Real, President and CEO at PLDT Global.
