PLDT and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) partner with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) to equip more Filipinos with essential digital skills, especially in underserved areas.

“Through our ‘Tech for Good, Tech for All’ program, we are working with the DICT to build a digitally empowered nation, enabling more Filipinos to thrive in a digital economy,” said Stephanie V. Orlino, AVP and Head of Stakeholder Engagement Team at PLDT and Smart. “The initiative helps us narrow the digital gap and ensures that no Filipino is left behind as we move towards a more connected Philippines.”

PLDT and Smart led the Basic Digital Literacy session during the Training of Trainers for the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) Focal and DICT Center managers. The module covered real-world essentials like smartphone navigation, social media basics, and online selling – especially crafted for seniors and first-time smartphone users.

PLDT and Smart lead the Basic Digital Literacy session during the Training of Trainers for the ICT Literacy and Competency Development Bureau (ILCDB) Focal and DICT Center managers.

The participants of this training manage Tech4ED-DTCs (Technology for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurs, and Economic Development – Digital Transformation Centers) nationwide. These self-sustaining, shared digital hubs offer locals access to e-Government services and community-responsive learning content.

“At the DICT, we are working to make sure every Filipino, no matter where they are, has the tools and skills to take part in today’s digital world. By bringing training opportunities closer to communities, we’re helping people take part in the country’s digital shift and find their place in it,” said Jimmicio S. Daoaten, Director IV of ILCDB of DICT.

The DICT’s push aligns with the global Digital Transformation Centers (DTC) Initiative, launched by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU) and Cisco in 2019. PLDT and Smart serve as the program’s sole telco partner in the Philippines, reinforcing the PLDT Group’s commitment to inclusive digital growth.
