PLDT Inc. and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart) have reinforced their collaboration with the provincial government of Quezon, led by Governor Dr. Angelina “Helen” Tan, to advance digital connectivity and community development initiatives.
As part of this partnership, Smart recently launched for the province Smart Infocast, a web-based text-broadcasting solution designed to help public and private institutions disseminate vital information quickly and efficiently. The platform is now serving an initial 20,000 beneficiaries throughout Quezon, providing a seamless communication channel for constituents, particularly during times of crisis.

“Communication is a cornerstone of effective governance,” said Richard Dimagiba, Vice President for Postpaid Marketing. “Through Smart Infocast, we help LGUs like Quezon province maintain direct, timely engagement with their communities. This collaboration demonstrates how technology can strengthen local partnerships and support inclusive development.”
“Timely information strengthens public service,” said Governor Tan. “With Smart Infocast, our offices can reach constituents directly with essential updates — from disaster preparedness to public health reminders — using a familiar, accessible tool.”

To ensure smooth implementation, Smart will conduct training sessions for system administrators managing the service. To ensure that information reaches even remote barangays, 11 new 4G cell sites have also been established in the towns of Tagkawayan, Calauag, Gumaca, Lopez, and Atimonan.
Smart Infocast is part of a broader effort by Smart and its parent firm, PLDT Inc., to enhance communication capabilities nationwide. Since 2020, over 300 local government units, barangays, and national agencies have adopted the platform to improve information dissemination within their communities.
These initiatives reflect the PLDT Group’s commitment to supporting sustainable development by helping make cities and human settlements inclusive, safe, resilient, and sustainable.
