A breakdown in Globe Telecom’s fiber optic transmission backbone in Metro Manila was found to be the actual cause of Globe’s network problems in northern Luzon over the past few days. Globe engineers finally made this admission to their PLDT counterparts Thursday morning.

MANILA, Philippines, February 8, 2013 - TELECOMS leader PLDT and Globe Telecom Inc. have agreed to address issues surrounding the use of each other’s facilities, particularly poles and overhead cables, across the country.

“Our operations executives sat down with their counterpart in Globe last Tuesday, February 5, and agreed that we will maintain the status quo with respect to all disputed attachments currently  installed on our respective poles and outside-of-plant facilities,” PLDT Spokesperson and Public Affairs Group Head Ramon Isberto.

MANILA, Philippines, 5th February 2013 - Philippine Long Distance Telephone Company (“PLDT”) announced today that it had entered into an agreement to sell the Business Process Outsourcing (“BPO”) businesses owned by its wholly-owned subsidiary – SPi Global Holdings, Inc. (“SPi”) – to Asia Outsourcing Gamma Limited, a company controlled by CVC Capital Partners (“CVC”). The sale of the BPO business is expected to be completed by March 2013, after satisfaction of agreed closing conditions. UBS acted as exclusive financial adviser to PLDT.
