In a spacious hall in Bergen, Norway, families gathered over home-cooked dishes. Friends reconnected through stories and laughter. And a community found a familiar sense of warmth and belonging in a country of stunning fjords, dramatic coastlines and—at least for one day—Original Pilipino Music, as a familiar voice sang: "Jopay, kumusta ka na?"

For many Filipinos living in Norway, creating that sense of home is especially important. Life can feel worlds apart from the Philippines. The climate is different, the language is different, and even everyday routines can take some getting used to. That spirit of connection was on full display at the recently concluded Himig Musikahan Pinoy Music Fest and FilNor Familietreff (Family Day), organized by FilNor Sunnhordland, a Filipino-Norwegian community group that has spent years bringing Filipinos together through culture, music, and service, with the support of PLDT Global through TinBo (Tindahan ni Bossing).

With the support of Filipino Culture & Sports – Vestland (FCSV), D-Production, The Yellow Room Music PH, and the Philippine Embassy in Norway, Himig Musikahan was headlined by OPM rock band Mayonnaise and showcased Filipino bands based in Norway, highlighting how Filipino creativity continues to thrive even far from home.

"What makes Himig Musikahan special to us is seeing Filipino talent grow here in Norway. Our musicians are not only keeping our music alive, but they are also creating something of their own and sharing it with the community," said Ching Villalon, Board Member of FilNor Sunnhordland. "We are grateful to PLDT Global and TinBo for believing in that vision and supporting an event that gave our artists the opportunity to be seen and heard, while bringing our community together. For me, that is the beauty of being Filipino abroad. We bring a piece of home with us, but wherever we are, we also have the opportunity to create something new."

Supporting the celebrations was PLDT Global's digital marketplace TinBo, which brought interactive activities and digital rewards to attendees. More than giveaways, however, these experiences reflected something deeper: the enduring desire of Filipinos abroad to stay connected to the people, places, and traditions that matter most.

"For Filipinos living far from home, staying connected goes beyond technology. By supporting Filipino organizations and cultural gatherings around the world, TinBo is able to bring our promise of alaga to life, creating meaningful moments that connect overseas Filipinos with their loved ones, their culture, and the brands and services that help them stay close to home," said Albert Villa-Real, President and CEO of PLDT Global.

Today, TinBo serves more than 400,000 customers worldwide, helping overseas Filipinos access digital services, rewards, and trusted Philippine brands no matter where they are. But beyond its digital offerings, the platform continues to find meaningful ways to engage Filipino communities where they live, work, and celebrate, recognizing that connection is built not only through technology, but also through shared experiences.

These community engagements also highlight the growing opportunity for Philippine brands to connect with overseas Filipinos in more authentic ways. Through Ramdam, PLDT Global's engagement and advertising solutions platform, brands can participate in culturally relevant moments that resonate with Filipino communities abroad, combining digital touchpoints with on-ground experiences that foster genuine engagement rather than traditional advertising.

As more Filipinos build lives overseas, gatherings such as Himig Musikahan and FilNor Familietreff continue to play an important role in preserving heritage and fostering belonging. They also demonstrate how shared cultural experiences can create meaningful connections, bringing together communities, organizations, and brands around the values and traditions that Filipinos carry with them wherever they go. For Filipinos in Norway, however, the value of these gatherings goes beyond engagement. They are reminders that home is not defined solely by geography. It is found in familiar songs, shared traditions, and the communities that keep Filipino culture alive wherever they may be.
