PLDT, Smart strengthen post-quake support in Cebu with connectivity, relief aid

[Oct. 2, 2025] PLDT Inc., Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), PLDT Home, and PLDT Enterprise are reinforcing support for communities affected by the magnitude 6.9 earthquake in Northern Cebu with vital connectivity and humanitarian aid.

Smart has activated 5G-powered WiFi at the Cebu Capitol’s Relief Operations Command Center to boost coordination among responders. The group also set up Libreng Tawag, Libreng Charging, and Libreng WiFi services at the following sites:

• Smart cell site, Pandan, Brgy. Poblacion, Bogo City (Libreng Tawag and Charging only)
• Cebu Provincial Hospital, Bogo City
• Bogo City Sports Complex
• PLDT Sales and Service Centers: Mactan, Mandaue, Jones, Talisay

PLDT and Smart also deployed portable generators to the Provincial Social Welfare and Development (PSWD) office in Bogo City, extended load credits to disaster teams of Daanbantayan’s local government unit and distributed safe drinking water to affected employees and community residents.

PLDT and Smart continue to work closely with local governments and response agencies to deliver critical communications support and relief to quake-hit communities.

PLDT, Smart boost Cebu’s post-quake response, deploy Smart 5G WiFi at Cebu capitol’s relief operations command center

[Oct. 1, 2025] Amid relief operations to help survivors of the Magnitude 6.9 earthquake that struck Northern Cebu, PLDT, its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. (Smart), PLDT Home, and PLDT Enterprise have rolled out Smart 5G Wifi at the Cebu Capitol's Relief Operations Command Center as the first telco to support the province's post-earthquake response.

Smart has also set up a free charging station at the Smart cell site at Pandan, Brgy Poblacion, Bogo City, while PLDT is also offering free NDD calls, free Wi-Fi, and free charging at their Cebu Sales and Service Centers in Mactan, Mandaue, Jones and Talisay. Portable gensets have also been deployed to the Capitol's PSWD in-charge in Bogo City for use at the incident command center and Bogo District Hospital, while load credits with data and unli call and text have also been provided to the LGU Daanbantayan’s DRR, MSWD, DSWD and hotline to boost their response. 

PLDT and Smart continue to coordinate with local government and disaster response authorities in Cebu to provide vital communication aid to affected communities.
