The Philippines’ leading integrated telecommunications company PLDT Inc. (PLDT) continues to strengthen its alignment with global standards for climate action as it benchmarks with the 2023 disclosure system of the CDP. 

PLDT participated anew in the S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment. The integrated telco’s completion of its 2023 Sustainability Report underscores strategic efforts to evaluate and boost environmental, social, and governance performance.

PLDT wireless unit Smart Communications (Smart) is expanding the use of solar energy for its cell sites using solar panels with battery storage systems as Smart pushes to operate a greener network and integrate sustainable solutions in its daily operations. 

To cap off the celebration of the Philippine Environment Month in June, the Philippines’ largest integrated telco network PLDT Inc. and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc. marked another significant milestone in their sustainability journey after energizing solar rooftop panels in its biggest business facility in the Visayas, located along Osmeña Boulevard in Cebu City.

In June 2022, PLDT, the largest fully integrated telco in the Philippines, and its wireless unit Smart Communications, Inc., reaffirmed their commitment to the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) in their second Communication on Progress (CoP) report.

PLDT, the largest fully integrated telecommunications company in the Philippines, is booking an early ride to the green highway. As one of the country’s pioneers in sustainability, the company will be including electric vehicles (EV) to augment its present fleet of service vehicles. EVs are environment friendly as they have lower carbon emissions compared with vehicles powered by internal combustion engines (ICE).
