Smart, together with the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute (DA-ATI), is modernizing agriculture through the Digital Farmers Program or DFP. The ladderized capacity-building program aims to enable smallholder farmers to use the internet and different mobile technologies to improve their livelihood.

Mobile connectivity is still king when it comes to keeping connections alive between overseas Filipino workers (OFW) and their families back home. According to a recent study done by PLDT Global Corporation, nine out of ten OFWs based in the Middle East send mobile load to their families back home to stay connected. PLDT Global is the international arm of the Philippines’ largest fully integrated telco PLDT.

Mental wellness through sports gains traction

PLDT and Smart, through its Better Today program, have reinforced their commitment to promoting mental health and wellness through sports. With some of the country’s top athletes and community sports advocates, PLDT and Smart launched “Power Move Project”, a conversations series on sports and mental resilience. To date, the series has garnered at least 456,000 views.

Together with the Provincial Government of La Union and mental health advocate Joy Ortega, PLDT and Smart reinforce their commitment to creating safe spaces online for the youth to discuss mental health through the monthly conversations series entitled, “Kamusta Ka, eLyU?”. With two episodes aired, the series has garnered over 10,000 views and counting.
