PLDT Enterprise has successfully launched Free Public Wi-Fi at the historic Carbon Public Market in Cebu City. The group also received a Certificate of Recognition from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Region 7 for its commitment to the Free Wi-Fi for All project, further strengthening its position as a key player in bridging the digital divide.
The event was led by Hon. Jaypee Labella, Cebu City Councilor and ICT Committee Chairperson, alongside DICT 7 representatives Engr. Royden Rusiana and Engr. Gem Albert De La Cruz.
"This collaboration with DICT exemplifies our commitment to digital inclusion. By providing free Wi-Fi access at Carbon Public Market, we're not only connecting people but we're also empowering communities and enabling economic opportunities in one of Cebu's most vibrant commercial hubs," said Kent De La Calzada, PLDT Enterprise Assistant Vice President and Head of Customer Relationship Management in Visayas.
This initiative of PLDT Enterprise aligns with PLDT Group's aim to help the Philippines achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (UNSDG), particularly SDG 9 which focuses on Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure. Furthermore, this strengthens the group's role as a key partner in advancing the government's digital transformation agenda.
