MANILA, Philippines, March 10, 2016 – Leading telecoms and digital services provider PLDT has turned over 30 butterfly houses, known as the “Village of Joy”, in Tacloban, Leyte for the benefit of the families who were victims of Superyphoon Yolanda, in support of the transitional housing program of the Philippine Disaster Resilience Foundation (PDRF), in partnership with USAID.

BAGANGA, Davao Oriental, March 1, 2016 — MVP Tulong Kapatid (TK), the corporate social responsibility consortium of the companies led by businessman Manuel V. Pangilinan, in partnership with the provincial government of Davao Oriental formally turned over today 266 housing units to the families rendered homeless when Typhoon Pablo devastated the province in December 2012.

Fighting Poverty through Micro-Financing

As part of its flagship program to help end the cycle of poverty in the country, the PLDT-Smart Foundation partnered with ASA Philippines Foundation recently to help contractual employees of PLDT and Smart gain access to micro-financing.

With the launching of this PSF-ASA micro-finance project, recipients can now start borrowing capital at a very small interest to start their business and thus help them augment their income and take home pay, PLDT and Smart Chairman Manuel V. Pangilinan said.
